The Hautes-Alpes has 31 ski areas to suit all levels and tastes of skier and snowboarder which are open from November to the beginning of May. The sun nearly always shines here (300 days of sunshine a year), the slopes aren’t busy, the resorts are friendly and the snow quality is fantastic. We can’t think why you would want to take your ski or snowboard holiday anywhere else...
Winner of “Best Family Resort of the Year” – Golden Ski Award 2004, Puy Saint Vincent is just 5 minutes drive away and clearly visible from two of the apartments located in Les Vigneaux village. Another of our apartments is located within Puy St Vincent 1600 ski station and offers skiing from the doorstep. Other resorts such as Serre Chevalier, Vars, Risoul, Montgenèvre are all within 30 minutes drive. Travel slightly further again (30 minutes plus) and you can access the Milky Way resorts in Italy (Clavière, Cesana, Sestrière, Sauze d’Oulx) which will host the Winter Olympic games in February 2006.
And...finally, just beyond the Col de Lautaret we have the legendary ski resort of La Grave offering wild and steep off-piste skiing and boarding for the really adventurous.

Puy Saint Vincent |

Our nearest resort is Puy Saint Vincent (PSV). We have two apartments just 5 minutes drive away in the village of Les Vigneaux.
We love our local resort. The snow is always of good quality, there are good variety of ski runs plus many opportunities to try off piste. It never gets too busy, the staff are friendly and the restaurants are fantastic. It is a resort that is ideal for families with numerous of activities to entertain everyone. The British Ski Championships are held here every year in late April.

There is a ski school, a floodlit piste for night skiing, a snow park, 2 toboggan runs, ski doo hire, ice skating, ice climbing, tobogganing areas, husky dog rides, cross country skiing, torchlit descents, slide shows, a cinema, concerts, local markets, a Father Christmas helicopter visit on Christmas Eve and fireworks to celebrate the New Year. Passes are free for children less than
6 years old and seniors more than 75 years old: suitable
proof required. You must have a passport sized photo or scanable passport sized photo (i.e. passport, driving licence) with you to buy passes of more than 3 days duration.
We also confirm that yet again Puy St Vincent ski resort will host the 12th English Alpine Championships in 2008 from the 7th - 13th April.

Pelvoux |

The Pelvoux village resort also located in the Vallouise valley is just 10 minutes drive from Les Vigneaux and our apartments.
Altitude: 1250m to 2300m Cross Country: There is 60km of cross country skiing trails in the Vallouise valley which run beside the river between Les Vigneaux and Pelvoux. There is also 15km of marked trails for snowshoeing and walking. This family resort offers a ski school, a floodlit piste for night skiing, a restaurant, a nursery, a snow garden for young children, husky dog rides, snow shoeing, donkey rides, horse riding, torch lit descents, Father Christmas, and fireworks at New Year.

The Grand Serre Che ski area is one of the biggest ski areas in France which is made up of 3 ski areas which run along the Guisane valley from Briancon up to the Col de Lautaret. The ski areas are:
Altitude: 1200m to 2800m Cross Country: 35km of cross country skiing trails and numerous footpaths for snowshoeing and walking. There is a ski school, a snow park, a selection of nurseries, kids clubs, a ice karting track, horse riding, discos, cinemas, restaurants, bars, concerts….

The Milky Way or the la Voie Lactee as it is known locally is an even bigger ski area which spans the French Italian border. It is made up of 6 resorts which hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 2006.
